“A general survey of the successes achieved in the Freiburg Medical Clinic shows that in 20 out of 23 cases a regression of swelling of the glands was achieved. In some cases the glands disappeared completely. When there was tumour in the spleen, this also shrunk. In cases with fever, body temperature fell below 37 degrees centigrade. A marked fall of the erythrocyte sedimentation rate was achieved, in some cases until practically normal values. The red blood cell picture usually improved, albeit frequently with the help of blood transfusions. Body weight generally rose. These findings agree fully with the American observations.

Only three cases remained uninfluenced. One was a lymphosarcoma that showed further growth of the tumorous glands despite subsequent intensive radiotherapy. – In the second case, radiotherapy given a few weeks previously had only been partially and very briefly successful in a malignant final stage of lymphogranulomatosis. The third patient was in the same condition.”
