Key passage(s)

“The Calculation of Probabilities makes it possible to appreciate the advantages and disadvantages of the methods used in the conjectural sciences. Thus, to identify the best of the treatments in use for treating an illness, it is enough to try each of them on the same number of patients; the superiority of the best treatment will gradually manifest itself, to the extent that the number increases, and calculation will make known the probability corresponding to its advantage, and of the report following which it is superior to others.”
