Johannes Andreas Grib Fibiger born in Silkeborg April 23, 1867, died January 31, 1928, buried Garnison's cemetery, Copenhagen, in major-general Jac. Scav. Fibiger and spouse's burial place. Professor at the University of Copenhagen.

Student from Haderslev Læreres Skole [teachers of Haderslev's school], cand. med. [qualified as doctor] 1890, 1890-94 assistant at the University's laboratory for medical bacteriology, at the same time registrar at the Garnison Hospital, later at Blegdamshospitalet.

Professor at the University 1900. 1916 member of Videnskabernes Selskab [the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters]. 1925-26 rector at the University. 1927 doctor honoris causa at the University in Louvain. October 1927 awarded the Nobel Prize for his works on the Spiroptera cancer. 1908 Knight of the Dannebrog, 1919 decorated with the Silver Cross of the Order of the Dannebrog, 1926 Commander of the Order of the Dannebrog.
